I am officially getting married a year from today, wohoo!!  I have decided that I will be styling this skirt all year round because it is just too fabulous not too.  I transformed the skirt into a fall look by pairing it will shades of tan and one of my favorite fall pieces, fur!  Today is my all time favorite day of the year. I am so excited to take Aidan trick or treating for the first time.  What is everyone dressing up as???

Happy Halloween ya'll.

Denim Days

Today we have a weekend look, the only time I get to wear denim.  It's a casual and rugged look with the mixture of leather and distressed denim.  I finally got the chance to wear my wedge sneakers!  I absolutely adore the color  and fabric on these sneakers.

Lilac in the Fall

Hello friends!  Today is my 30th birthday and this skirt may be one of my favorite birthday presents so far.  Everything about it is perfect in my book from the color to the length.  If you follow along, you will no be shocked that I paired this very feminine skirt with a leather jacket because that is what I do, always pairing an edgy piece with a more sophisticated piece.  Lilac is an unlikely color for fall but works perfectly this time of year with the right pieces.  Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  Mine was spent behind my sewing machine making Aidan and my Halloween costumes.  Halloween is my favorite day of the year hence why I will be getting married next year on that day!!  It's almost exactly a year away, yikes!

Fashion Trends for Autumn

Fashion Trends for Autumn

For many, the change of the season brings the chance - or excuse - to hit the shops. Trends, by their very nature are defined by time – they are seasonal and fleeting. 'Buying' in to a complete new season would be very expensive and so the trick is to buy a few key pieces, as we all know. Once integrated into your staple wardrobe you'll be good to go. Here is a mini guide to fall fashion; read this before you hit the high street.

1. The Fluted Skirt
Ideal for winter, the pencil skirt has had a makeover. With a kick hemline, the skirt becomes more practical and it also slims the legs. Seek them in wool for warmth and heavier fabrics will provide you with enhanced shape. A great on trend buy to bring your work wardrobe up to date.

2. Tartan
When I think of winter, I think of Tartan. It's the certainly your go to print for autumn/winter as the highlands take over a high street near you. Head to New Look where you’ll find the perfect piece to introduce tartan to your wardrobe and from just £14.99, what a gorgeous bargain.

3. The Roll Neck
Forget chunky cowl necks and opt for lighter fabrics - such as silks and finer knits - and this style you thought you could never ever wear becomes wearable. What's great about the roll neck this season is it packs both on trend style and superb functionality - its winter, its cold and this keeps you lovely and warm.

4. Accessories
Whatever your budget, accessories provide the best way to bring your existing wardrobe into the current season. Buying yourself a new scarf or woolly hat in the latest print, or on trend colour, may save you from investing in a more expensive winter coat. Costume jewellery also provides an inexpensive way to update your existing clothes; just head to somewhere like Topshop who'll have you sorted in no time. If you would rather invest a little bit more money, Pandora Charms are perfect; then you can treat yourself to a new charm each season.

5. The Patent Coat
This ultra-shiny coat will certainly turn heads and keep you at the forefront of autumn/winter fashion. It was a regular on the London Fashion Week catwalk, this coat is the prefect piece to protect yourself against the dreary weather this season.

Working Girl with Style - Fashion Link Up - Colorful Prints

Welcome to Working Girl with Style, a place to share your work style whether you work from home, in a school or at an office.  Following a dress code can sometimes be challenging because lets face it not all fashion is appropriate for the work place.  Join me every Thursday to share your work style and meet some other stylish gals!  We can all use some inspiration from time to time.

I love layering once the weather cools down.  I scored this dress at T.J. Maxx last week and was anxious to style it.  Since the weather is now too cool for sleeveless pieces, I first layered the dress over a sleeveless top with a leather collar to add a little edge and then added another layer with a simple knitted long sleeve top.  The leather collar complimented the leather peplum belt perfectly.  The colors in the skirt portion of the dress are so vibrant and fun.  It adds something to the otherwise simple black color combination.
