What to Wear: Spring Break

It's officially the first day of Spring, yehaaa!!  Now only if that warm weather would come out of hiding. My spring break begins a week from Friday.  Oh the joys of being a teacher.  I wish I was going to be spending my week off on a secluded tropical island but unfortunately I am not that lucky.  But who said a girl can't pretend right!?!

Let's enter my dream world shall we.

The alarm goes off bright and early at 8:00 am and my day begins.  My morning is spent enjoying a yummy breakfast that includes lots of french toast and bacon.  Oh and lets not forget that mimosa.  Now it's time to do some shopping.  Lets face it no vacation is complete without a little shopping.  What would I wear you ask???  Well let me show you.

Comfortable and stylish.

// 1 - karen walker // 2 - urban outfitters // 3 - sam edelman // 4 - free people // 5 - forever 21 //

Beach time!  The best part of my day.  Give me the combination of sand and sun and I become one happy girl.  A cold pina colada would definitely add to my happiness.

I adore everything about this bikini from the cute print to the feminine ruffle.

// 1 - forever 21 // 2 - gap // 3 - j.crew //

Let the night begin in this chic little number as I move like jagger on the dance floor.

This look incorporates two of my favorite trends: peplum and floral print.  I am currently loving simple everyday jewelry.  I could fall in love with this watch over and over again.

// 1 - simply just lovely // 2 - gucci  // 3 - zara  // 4 - forever 21 // 5 - zara //

WAKE UP!!!  It was a good dream while it lasted.

Do you have any sweet vacation plans for spring??

Guest Post: Spring/Summer Fashion with MissesDressy.com

The colorful seasons

Spring/Summer are the most colorful season's of the year, and usually this is when we would see people wearing more colors and patterns on the streets. We should take advantage of the warm and sunny weather, by adding some happiness into our wardrobe this year. So we've put together a daytime look and evening look for you guys. Were going to show you how you can add a pop to your outfits.

Daytime Look:

1/2/3/4/5

When we put together an outfit for the day, the first thing which comes to mind is usually casual. Casual is the key, but it doesn't need to be boring. To spice things up, we've chosen a patterned sundress, still keeping it casual but chic at the same time. Try adding a gold statement necklace to add a pop to the look. For the perfect touch, swap the tote for a cross shoulder bag, throw on your sunglasses and you're ready to go.

If you're off to lunch or to see a movie, this will be the perfect outfit. In-fact it will be able to take you from day to night. It's perfectly easy just swap the flat sandals to high-heel sandals for the evening. You might also want to add a jean-jacket over the top for the cooler evenings.

Evening Look:

1/2/3/4/5

For the evening, most people normally go for black. Why not go for something more colorful this time? This look is great for a night out in town, like a dinner date or even if you're just out for a few drinks. A cape evening dress isn't actually that hard to wear, if you know what to pair it with then you can easily make it your own. Gold tends to go with most colors and skin tones. Try pairing either a gold belt or gold necklace with a cape dress, to prevent the front from being too plain. You won't want to wear both as it will be too much. Match it with a pair of strappy high heel sandals. To complete the outfit, carry a studded box clutch for a more edgier look.

Perfect Gift For Any Woman In Your Life

Are you ever stumped when it comes to gift giving ideas?  I know I am!  I'm not a huge fan of giving gift cards for the sole reason that they are pretty impersonal.  Although I love receiving gift cards, go figure!  Anyway, I always try really hard to come up with thoughtful and unique gift ideas.  I tend to find it much harder to come up with ideas for the men in my life.  My father being the hardest!  The women on the other hand are a little easier.

One of my favorite gifts for the women in my life is a Pandora bracelet.  It's the gift that keeps giving!  And what I mean by that is you will always have a future gift idea, a new charm!  What is even better is you can personalize the bracelet based on the charms you choose.  For example,  I am obsessed, yes obsessed, with Halloween (hence why I'm getting married on 10/31/14) so for my birthday I received a pumpkin charm, loved it!  After baby boy was born, I was given an A for Aidan.  I love that everyone's bracelet is unique to the individual.  Pretty neat gift, huh!

Here are a few other charms I have my eye on.

Left to Right:  1  //  2  //  3

Lately I have been browsing some of Pandora's other jewelry and I must say they have some gorgeous pieces.  I mean all women love jewelry right!?  I am pretty obsessed with this piece in particular.  I don't know what it is but lately I am loving gold and simple when it comes to my rings.  This definitely fits both criteria.

What is one of your favorite gifts to give??

Mommy Monday

As a "mother to be" have you ever asked others to share their words of wisdom before the big day??  I know when I was pregnant, I asked away and had my nose buried in tons of parenting books.  Some tips were useful and some were useless just like anything else in life.  Today I thought I would share my "5 tips for New Mommies."  Now considering I am a new momma myself I am by no means an expert.  But over this past six months I have learned a lot.  So if someone was to ask me for some of my tips here is what i would say:

1.  You will never have all the answers!  Yup I said never.  I mean does anyone have the answers to everything.  I know the answer to that one, NO!  Some may think they do but the truth of the matter is no one has the answer to everything.  Just like everything else in life, becoming a parent is a learning experience.  You will have your ups and downs, your bumps and bruises along the way but in the end you will do the best you can.  Twenty years from now, I will still not have all the answers but I will have my experiences and I will have learned from those experiences.  You do not have to have all the answers to be a good, loving parent.

2.  Don't be afraid or ashamed to ask for help!  Since we already established you will not have all the answers, when in doubt ask, ask, ask!  Whether your asking your mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt or friend don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for advice!  This is all new to you and at times can be extremely overwhelming.  Don't try and be super women.  Ask for help!  Once in awhile it's okay for daddy to feed the baby too, you know!  In the beginning I was so stubborn and wanted to do everything myself.  Believe me it catches up with you!  This leads me to my next tip.

3.  Find some time for yourself!  Having a baby consumes you.  You want to spend every waking moment with that little bundle of joy but you are still entitled to some "me time."  You may not think you will need it, but you will.  Don't feel bad about wanting some time for yourself.  Yes you are now a new person because of your precious little one but it's okay to still be your old self as well.  Don't give up the other things you love.  Your love for your child will be one you never experienced before but it is still okay to love other things as well.  If I didn't believe this to be true then I wouldn't be writing this post right now!

4.  Enjoy every moment!  And I mean every stinkin moment!  Even the poop up the back moments!  In the blink of an eye life passes you by.  Sometimes I wish I could freeze a moment and have it forever.  I mean wouldn't it be awesome to have a collection of snow globes (minus the snow) with your favorite moments frozen in each and with one shake you could relive it.  The first few months go by at super speed so try your best to enjoy every minute.

5.  Trust your instincts!  Listen to the advice of others but in the end go with your gut feeling.  That mommy instinct kicks in immediately.  Trust yourself.  Most times mother knows best!

Party Planner

When I found out my cousin was having a Princess Tea Party for her 5th birthday, I jumped at the chance to plan the decor for the party.  Being an event planner is one of my dream jobs!  I was given one instruction, the color scheme was to be shades of pink and purple.  Within an hour I had the entire party planned out and all the supplies ordered.  Can you tell I was excited?!  I picked out the entire table setting and handmade all the decorations (except the cake plate) and party favors.  I basically had the chance to live out one of my dream jobs for a day, yay!  Here is a look at how everything turned out.

Dress for the Occasion: Try These Two Outfits!

Being the eyewear junkie that I am, I was more than thrilled for the opportunity to collaborate with Kaki on ways to dress for the occasion while making sure to incorporate eyewear for those of us with less then perfect vision or for those of us who just love eyewear as an added accessory.  I am a firm believer that eyewear can completely transform a look and can be worn for every occasion.  Being a high school teacher, I see the many ways teenagers today use eyewear to express themselves.  Being a blogger, I also see the many ways adults use eyewear as an accessory as well as a form of expression.  Eyewear, in my opinion, has become as important as a handbag is for accessorizing an outfit.  Let's face it, most people do not have 20/20 vision so why not have some fun when choosing the right eyewear for you!

Kaki Read – Fashion Coordinator at Warby Parker
Is fashion important to you, but you’re pressed for time? If so, you are not alone. You probably have frequent events during the day and the evening, and there is simply no time to find the perfect outfit to build your confidence and help you appear competent in your profession or social sphere. These recommendations will make it easier to find the perfect outfit to help you look and feel your best!
If you are going out during the day, you should try pairing some of the new fashionable casual attire. Try pairing a simple t-shirt or button-down oxford shirt with your favorite skinny jeans. To dress up the t-shirt, wrap your favorite solid-color or patterned scarf around your neck to add intrigue. Large chandelier earrings, hoops, or drop earrings should be added for additional flair.
This outfit would also work well for some business casual environments, but other environments may require something slightly dressier. In a dressier business casual environment, a pair of floral trousers, a ruffle-front blouse, and a pair of wedges may be more appropriate.
Don’t forget your bangles, a blazer, and a pair of square-frame eyeglasses. These glasses are both functional and fashionable. Sunglasses with an amber tint may also be effective for a daytime look.

For an evening event, consider sprucing up your outfit and purchase a cocktail dress. A fitted knit dress with long sleeves works well for a cool evening. For a warmer evening, a tank dress would be appropriate. Try wearing a pair of stilettos and a chunky beaded necklace or a scarf, and an elegant pair of glasses. Don’t forget a complementary clutch of a contrasting color. With the hair pulled back or up, the entire ensemble comes together brilliantly.
Whenever you go out shopping, it is important that you remember to buy pieces that are interchangeable. This will extend the longevity of the outfits that you put together. Each time you step out of the home, you will look fresh, new, and appropriate! When you look great, you will exude confidence and be more equipped to go out into your environment and handle whatever life throws your way!

Mommy Monday

Back in September I wrote a post where I shared a few things that helped me get through Aidan's first month. You can check out that post here. While some of these products are still necessary, others have since been retired. For example, Aidan still loves his swing and will use the binky from time to time. The rock and play sleeper, the boppy pillow (which I just realized I referred to as a bobby pillow in my first month post; I must have been really tired), the bouncer seat and swaddle me blankets have been put away.

So I am back today to share with you some more "must have" products. Keep in mind Aidan is now 6 months old so a few of these items may be on your wait list or your retired list.

Aidan is obsessed and obsessed may be putting it lightly with his jumperoo, which I refer to as his jolly jumper. He will stay in this for an hour sometimes longer and just spin around playing with all the toys. He finally got the hang of jumping so he goes a little crazy sometimes. It is the funniest thing to watch and he is just so darn happy in it!

This puppy was the best Christmas gift I could ever have bought Aidan. He just loves this little guy. As soon as you press his feet the puppy starts talking or singing and Aidan just stares at him in amazement and starts smiling or giggling. It's really too cute for words.

The toy bar is a huge help, let me tell you. It makes changing time a little less hard especially now that Aidan thinks he can roll over on his changing table. This may be the best addition to a changing pad.

Humidifier

A humidifier is a must have. I use it every night. It really helps Aidan sleep through the night especially when he is congested or has the sniffles.

Toy Keys

Everyone told me Aidan would love playing with toy keys and everyone was right! He swings these things around like a crazy man. I have been hit in the face only a few times so far!

Desitin

You should always have a tube of Desitin by your changing table as well as in your diaper bag. This stuff works wonders. It has cleared any diaper rash Aidan has had and quite quickly I might add.

Nasal Aspirator

And I cannot forget about my dear friend the "boogie sucker"! If you do not own one of these or have not registered for one yet then get on it. I guarantee at some point your little one will come down with the sniffles and here is your answer to getting all those boogies out! At first, Aidan thought it was funny when I would suck those hard to reach boogies out of his nose but now he kind of hates it! I still manage to get them all out.

What are a few of your "must have" baby products?  What products did you feel were a waste of money?
